It is with sadness ATPAM announces the passing of retired press agent Shirley Carroll O’Connor on December 16, 2010 in Laguna Hills, California. Sister O’Connor was 93 years old and had been a member of ATPAM since 1950. Shirley spent over a quarter century as the first woman publicist to represent circus attractions, among them Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey, Clyde Beatty and Cole Brothers. She also represented numerous musicals including Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show and was for several years the Director of Publicity for Universal Studios Tour and Amphitheatre. Shirley is survived by her son, Kevin, also an ATPAM member.
