LARGE TURNOUT AT NEW YORK MEMBERSHIP MEETING ON APRIL 26, 2002

The April General Membership Meeting in New York was attended by nearly 100 members and staff. The luncheon meeting was held at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on 42nd Street.

The main order of business was nominations for the Union's national Board of Governors and Officers.

President Maria A. Somma, Vice President David R. Calhoun, and Secretary-Treasurer Gordon G. Forbes were unanimously nominated by the members in attendance to continue in their current positions. They will be returned to office for three year terms, through June of 2005.

The Press Agent Chapter caucused and made the following nominations to the Board of Governors:

Jim Baldassare (New York)
Barbara Carroll (New York)
David Gersten (New York)
Kevin P. McAnarney (New York)
Kevin C. O'Connor (California)
Molly Smyth (Texas)

The Manager Chapter caucused and made the following nominations to the Board of Governors:

Douglas C. Baker (California)
Susan Elrod (New York)
Nancy Gibbs (New Jersey)
Nick Kaledin (New Jersey)
Robert Reilly (New York)
Howard Rogut (New York)
Rina Saltzman (Illinois)
Susan Sampliner (New York)
Mark Schweppe (Pennsylvania)

Board terms are one year and each Chapter elects five Board Members and one Alternate.

The Membership also discussed a recommendation from the Board to amend the Union's By-laws to establish a Political Action Committee. This amendment proposal will be voted on by the national membership in upcoming election balloting.
