NOTICE TO MEMBERS |
|
Members are advised that there are serious financial penalties for working without contracts. There are no "Off-Broadway" venues seating more than 99 in the Borough of Manhattan that are exempt from ATPAM jurisdiction. Please check Tom Walsh in the ATPAM office before accepting non-contract employment as a Manager or Press Agent Off-Broadway. If you are providing service to a show or venue that is advertised to the public as an Off-Broadway show or theatre, you are working in ATPAM jurisdiction and must have a contract. This includes all shows listed in the Off-Broadway New York Times ABCs and other such listings. Any past practice does not exempt members from their responsibility to file contracts. If you have a special situation, for example a not-for-profit setting, the Union will work with your employer to create an appropriate, site-specific contract. If you are in a long-term situation working without a contract, you should contact the Union and report it for your own protection. In the case of theatre seating less than 100, there is a special small theatre contract available for use by members, but it is not required under any collective bargaining agreement Work rules are sometimes inconvenient for members because their employers do not want to recognize the Union and do not want to pay pension and health benefits. However, in the long term, work rules protect the entire membership and insure higher local area standards for employment in the crafts represented by ATPAM. In any venue where the employer is paying pension and health benefits for actors and stage managers, they should also be paying them for ATPAM |
