In two ground breaking agreements, producers have acknowledged ATPAM jurisdiction in San Francisco’s Marines Memorial Theatre and John Jay Theatre at John Jay College in New York City, two venues previously operating non-union. The Producers of STOMP are currently operating the Marines Memorial Theatre (611 seats) on a four wall rental basis. ATPAM has entered into an agreement with the Producer that will now become the standard for the Marines and many other mid-size venues in the Bay Area and nationally. In New York, the producers of the British import, MNEMONIC, have booked a limited run engagement at the state-of-the-art theatre located in the John Jay College (550 seats), adjacent to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. ATPAM has approved the same terms for use in this venue as in the Marines. In brief, the agreement calls for a Press Agent and a Manager to be employed under the terms and conditions of the ATPAM MBA for Off-Broadway. The minimum scale will be the highest sliding scale in the "D" category. That rate is currently $1024.00 plus 8.5% vacation pay. The contract requires full pension and health benefits for both the Press Agent and Manager. This new basic agreement is predicated on the seating capacity and ticket prices of the venues. It acknowledges that these venues are larger than the largest Off-Broadway venues (499 seats) but smaller than the smallest Broadway Playhouses (700 seats). The ticket prices are generally lower than Broadway and the venues are not located in the Broadway Theatre District. Producers and Theatre operators wishing to use this new contract should contact Tom Walsh in the ATPAM Office. |
