Scholarships Awarded To Twelve Individuals

Twelve Milton Weintraub Scholarships were awarded in the total amount of ten thousand dollars. Each year the Committee awards these scholarships to members and relatives of members to help defray some of the cost of higher education. The scholarhips are named in honor of Milton Weintraub, who served as the Union’s Secretary Treasurer from 1942 to 1968.

The recipients of the $1,000 scholarships included: Manager Robert Buckley, Molly Schoemann (daughter of manager Pamela Hare), Hilary Baker (dad is Manager Chapter Chair Doug Baker), David Hoffman (father is manager Barry Hoffman), Meghan Abel (mother is manager Claire Abel), and Joshua Cole (son of manager Robert Cole). Awarded $750 each were nieces or nephews of members in good standing. The recipients include: Blake Wanger (press agent Bill Schelble, uncle), Patrick Kempf (manager Jacqueline Mooney aunt), Joseph Gindi (manager Roger Gindi, uncle), and Evan Andrews (manager Mark Andrews, uncle). Joseph Zagari, grandson of Milton Wientraub and Tim Lannan (wife is manager Nina Lannan) were each awarded $500.

The Scholarship Committee reviewed the criteria for applicants and expanded the guidelines to include scholarships for spouses and domestic partners pursuing either undergraduate or graduate degrees..
