In a unique, first time public celebration, ATPAM members
were honored at “Broadway Salutes” showcasing the artists
and professionals who have given 25, 35, and 50 years of
dedicated service to the Broadway community. Co-presented
by The Broadway League and the Coalition of Broadway Unions
and Guilds, “Broadway Salutes” recognized these individuals,
who received a pin in the shape of a star and embossed with
25, 35 or 50, at a public event held Tuesday, September 22,
2009 in Duffy Square.
More than 2,000 individuals have worked over the decades to
make Broadway the cornerstone of the American Theater.
Nearly 400 of these dedicated and talented individuals
gathered in the heart of Broadway to be honored by Brian
Stokes Mitchell, who served as Master of Ceremonies,New
York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and co-chairs for
the event, Laura Penn (Executive Director of Stage Directors
and Choreographers) and Daniel Adamian (General Manager,
Jujamcyn Theaters). Speakers also included Nina Lannan
(President, The Broadway League) and Tony De Paulo (5th
Vice President of the IATSE and Chair of COBUG). |
